A Few Simple Issues with the Accomodation of Transgendered People

I've decided to write an article on the accomadation of transgendered people as this is a rising issue with some public schools letting children use the bathroom of the opposite sex.  I'm going to jump right into this.

If you have a Y chromosome, you are a male.  Sometimes, the outer parts don't match, but the chromosme is a solid measure.

While I recognize that sex and gender are not the same thing, if your psychological identity doesn't match your biologogical identity, why should we immeadiately presume that your biology is the thing that's broken?  Your mind can be changed without radical mutilating surgery.  The ancients would say that a creature must overcome its passions to live by its nature, but now we are destroying our nature so as to live by our passions.  It's based on a "do as you please" philosophy that is defining problems out of existence rather than solving them.  "Loving someone means telling them they don't have to change" is the approach.

It's very damaging in a broader sense, too.  The gay rights crowd is known for talking about people as "born that way," which I assume they would apply to transgender folks, too.  Only those with conventional identities are allowed to be questioning.  Once you are in an alternative lifestyle, you are trapped.  A huge political argument relies on you being trapped.  Straights and cisgenders can switch, but gays and transgenders can not.  This discounts people's ability to change in a general sense.  What other behaviors are "who you are" and immutable?

Who is transgendered? There's no objective way of proving it. We have to take people at their word. This is obviously a recipe for abuse.

As to the issue of bathrooms, are bathrooms designed to separate people by body parts or by psychological makeup?  Is it okay for your daughter to share a dressing room with a boy if he claims to be a girl? We're not worried about kid's seeing each other's psychology naked.  If transgender folks can use the opposite sex bathroom, are they obligated to?  We wouldn't want a psychological boy in the girl's room.  Should the rest of society bend over backwards to make a minority feel comfortable, while in the process making themselves feel very uncomfortable.

I've read that some transgender men are playing on women's sports teams.  If this catches on, it will be the end of women's sports.  "Transgender" men, whether serious, joking, protesting the stupidity of the system or just wanting to win on an easier playing field, will destroy women and obliterate world records.  Liberals will be torn as a transgender Lebron James owns the WNBA.

Ultimately, while I recognize that sex and gender are not the same thing, and we are moving towards a society that increasingly recognizes the distinction, we should not presume that gender takes precedence or is immutable, and we should not separate by gender in areas that were obviously designed to have people separated by sex.
